What are the success factors for a spa hotel?
The most important success factors for the future are the holistic planning of a hotel and spa project, as well as an authentic and competitive positioning. The holistic approach enables the guests to enjoy with all their senses and indulge in a memorable spa experience. In the end, guests who are excited and enthusiastic will be happy to visit again and recommend the spa to their friends and family. At the beginning of each project the vision and strategic alignment have to be defined, as they have a significant influence on all further decisions regarding architecture and design, range of services and marketing. Profitability calculations and feasibility studies are also an important part of our work. The development of a holistic concept demands a business partner who features both the competence and resources to cover the entire value chain of a hotel and spa project. Choose a partner who will also assist you in the operation of the spa after the stage of realisation is completed.

What are the future trends of architecture and design?
Architecture – a distinguishing feature of a company!
The company´s strategic alignment is the crucial factor for any further decisions. This also applies to the architecture and design of a hotel and its spa area. A nicely constructed building that fails both functionality and the target group makes no sense at all. You can only score with surprises! Your guests will be surprised by a holistic experience. They experience their holiday as a form of freedom which they want to see reflected in the entire hotel and spa. This is provided through generous concepts of space, a cosy atmosphere and state-of-the art equipment. Privacy protection – of both women and men – is also gaining importance. The conventional three-dimensional room experience shall be extended to enable discerning guests to feel, smell and hear the things they previously merely used to see.

Nature and well-being in harmony
With regards to interior architecture, the main focus is on the guest`s well-being. Interior and spa design will be increasingly inspired by nature. A perfect combination of natural materials, such as water, wood, stone, clay, etc. and artificial materials, such as concrete and glass will have a positive effect on the guests`well-being.

Purist design gives way to natural cosiness
Purism is definitely out. Architectural trends are returning that make people feel comfortable and at ease. In addition, architecture will be supported by specific accessories to convey special themes, such as nature. Future guests want to get away from the ordinary. They experience their holiday as a form of freedom which they also want to see reflected in generous concepts of space.

The fascination of light!
A new trend is emerging in regards to lighting design. Elaborate lighting effects are used to create a relaxing atmosphere rather than just illuminate the room. These illumination concepts have a strong effect on both mood and mind. Illumination will not only be used to create a special atmosphere within the room but also to have an effect on the guests`moods. Just think of the dull ambience of a grey and rainy day. The use of sophisticated illumination concepts will definitely change the atmosphere. For detailed information on the tourism industry and spa trends for 2020 please consult:

Which future trends can be seen with regard to spa equipment?
The subject of health will become increasingly important over the next few decades. At the same time the spa guests will have an increasing demand for high quality standards. The days of meagre standard equipment are definitely over. The time is ripe for Holistic Senses, where all five senses are activated by a great variety of measures in order to create a sensation of well-being. This development has to be reflected in the spa equipment, the ”hardware” of the spa. In the future we will see a move towards spa equipment that allows multifunctional treatments because it is the most cost-efficient for the spa operator. What is the difference between day spas and destination spas?
Both day spas and destination spas are either spa areas of a hotel or beauty salon or special stand-alone day spas, which offer a wide range of beauty and body treatments. Both spa forms may offer spa and medical treatments as well as signature treatments. As the guests usually spend more than one day at a destination spa, accommodation is offered, too. A day spa is a spa area that is open to the public. Here the guests are pampered with a great variety of services for just a few hours or the whole day.
